Innovative automation solutions for production environments
ams OSRAM's optical solutions for machine vision enable precise environmental perception across various applications. In quality control, automatic optical inspection relies on the combination of imager resolution, frame rate, scanning method, shutter technology, and scene illumination to achieve high image quality. Spectrally adaptive illumination may be needed for daylight conditions.
Machine vision applications benefit from near-infrared illumination and sensitive NIR image sensors, which ensure high-performance vision systems immune to ambient light. In production environments, safety is ensured by 2D/3D LiDAR scanners or LED light curtains, which prevent accidents by detecting presence and motion.

ams CSG14K - 1” Global Shutter Image Sensor
With the CSG14K, ams offers a 14Mp global shutter area scan sensor, featuring 3.2μm charge domain pixels for the most demanding machine vision applications in 1” optical size.The CSG family features fast 12-bit column based ADCs to achieve industry-leading high frame rates at full resolution enabling faster inspection and higher data throughputs. Data throughput can be reduced by subsampling or binning enabling even higher frame rates. Optical black pixels are used for automatic black level calibration and row noise correction. Computation in the ISP pipeline can be streamlined by the histogram and image statistics that are calculated on-chip. Binning of pixels is possible to improve FWC, DR and SNR. HDR modes operate with dual exposure. Exposure and read-out can be externally triggered.The CSG family comes in a 218-pin LGA package with 22mm x 20mm x 3.3mm for ultra-compact(C-Mount) designs. Typical applications include 4K video, factory automation, intelligenttransportation systems (ITS) and general machine vison.
ams Dragster Line Scan
Dragster is a platform of digital line-scan sensors. The sensor family is made using three types of basic elements: a single line element from 2K to 8K pixel resolution (7 μm pixel size and pitch), a dual line element from 2K to 8K pixel resolution (7 μm pixel size and pitch) and a single line element from 4K to 16K pixel resolution (3.5 μm pixel size and pitch). The chip versions with dual line are optionally available with Bayer Pattern RGB filters placed on the sensors. The sensor features a low noise pixel with true CDS and global shutter for interleaved readout and integration operation. Start and end of integration, as well as optional start of readout, are started upon individual external trigger events. The readout is made by digital taps organized in odd/even order for each 2K segment. For each line segment, 2K (7 μm pixel) or 4K (3.5 μm pixel), all pixels are read out. For sensor versions with 3.5 μm pixel pitch, two 2K segment readout circuits are placed on each side of the pixel line, to lead to a basic segment of 4K pixels, where even pixels are read out over the bottom readout and odd pixels are read out over the top readout.

2.2 MP NIR enhanced global shutter image sensor designed for 2D and 3D consumer and industrial machine vision applications. Due to its small size, configurability and high sensitivity both in visual as well as NIR, the Mira220 is well suited for 2D and 3D applications, which include Active Stereo Vision, Structured Light Vision for Robotics and AR/VR.

ams BELAGO1.1 Dot Projector
BELAGO1.1 is a proprietary infrared dot-pattern illuminator for stereoscopic imaging and structured light platforms with eye-safety feature. It produces a focus-free, high-contrast dot pattern that algorithms can use to address low-texture situations and achieve high-accuracy depth maps. An additional benefit of the dot pattern is a reduction of the computational load required to perform the depth calculation.The BELAGO1.1 dot-pattern illuminator is provided in a miniature package that is compatible with standard lead-free reflow processes. As such, it can be successfully used onboard of a great variety of 3D sensing platforms, from mobile to IoT to robotics, both for stereoscopic imaging and structured light. BELAGO1.1 emitters project 5k dots, focus-free, in a random pattern at 940nm.
ams TMF8821 configurable 4x4 multi-zone Time-of-Flight Sensor
The TMF8821 is a direct time-of-flight (dToF) sensor in a single modular package with associated VCSEL. The dToF device is based on SPAD, TDC and histogram technology and achieves 5000 mm detection range. Due to its lens on the SPAD, it supports 3x3, 4x4 and 3x6 multizone output data and a wide, dynamically adjustable, field of view. A multi-lens-array (MLA) inside the package above the VCSEL widens up the FoI (field of illumination). All processing of the raw data is performed on-chip and the TMF8821 provides distance information together with confidence values on its I2C interface.
ams AS7343 Spectral Sensor
The AS7343 is a 14-channel highly versatile, multi-purpose spectral sensor enabling new consumer, commercial, industrial and laboratory applications. It is optimized for reflective, transmissive and emissive measurements including color matching, fluid or reagent analysis or general spectral reconstruction.The spectral response is defined by individual channels covering approximately 380 nm to 1000 nm with 12+2 channels: 12 in the visible spectrum (VIS) to near-infrared (NIR) range, a clear channel and flicker channel. Applications can be assisted by full spectral reconstruction of light and an integrated flicker detection channel that can automatically flag ambient light flicker at 50/60 Hz as well as buffer data for externally calculating other flicker frequencies. AS7343 integrates high-precision optical filters onto standard CMOS silicon via deposited interference filter technology. A built-in aperture controls the light entering the sensor array to increase accuracy. A programmable digital GPIO and LED driver enable light source and trigger/sync control. Device control and spectral data access is implemented through a serial I²C interface. The device is available in an ultra-low profile package with dimensions of 3.1 mm x 2 mm x 1 mm.
ams AS5510 Linear Position Sensor
The AS5510 is an absolute position sensor for linear applications with short strokes (0.5 to 2.0mm) based on contactless magnetic sensor technology. To measure a lateral movement the sensor needs a simple 2-pole magnet and the measured distance depends on the magnet geometry. The absolute position is measured with a resolution of 10 bit = 1024 positions and it is provided as a digital value on the serial interface (I²C).With two decades of magnetic sensor system know-how, we have broad experience in selecting the most suitable magnets. ams experts recommend the following magnet suppliers.
