ams TMD3702VC Color Light Sensor
|
The TMD3702VC is a high sensitivity light-to-digital converter that features ambient light and color (RGBC+IR) sensing in parallel with advanced IR proximity detection. The Ambient light and color sensing function provides four concurrent ambient light sensing channels: Red, Green, Blue, and Clear, which all have a UV/IR blocking filter. The ultra-slim 1.44mm wide package has been designed to accommodate a “single hole” aperture approach and incorporates an IR VCSEL that is factory calibrated driver. This product accurately measures ambient light and enables the calculation of illuminance, chromaticity, and color temperature to manage display appearance. The proximity function synchronizes IR emission and detection to sense nearby objects through photodiode detection of this reflected IR energy. Sensitivity, power consumption, and noise can be optimized with adjustable timing and power and the color photodiodes have dedicated data converters producing 16-bit data output. The prox architecture of the engine features self-maximizing dynamic range, ambient light subtraction, advanced optical crosstalk noise cancellation, 14-bit data output and interrupt-driven 1.8V I²C communications interface. The proximity engine recognizes detect/release events and produces a configurable interrupt whenever the proximity result crosses upper or lower threshold settings.

ams TSL2561 Ambient Light Sensor
|
The TSL2561 is a light-to-digital converter that transforms light intensity to a digital signal output capable of an I2C interface. Each device combines one broadband photodiode (visible plus infrared) and one infrared-responding photodiode on a single CMOS integrated circuit capable of providing a near photopic response over an effective 20-bit dynamic range (16-bit resolution). Two integrating ADCs convert the photodiode currents to a digital output that represents the irradiance measured on each channel. This digital output can be input to a microprocessor where illuminance (ambient light level) in lux is derived using an empirical formula to approximate the human eye response. The TSL2561 device supports a traditional level style interrupt that remains asserted until the firmware clears it.

The TSL2671 family of devices provides a complete proximity detection system and digital interface logic in a single 6-pin package. The device includes a digital proximity sensor with integrated LED driver for the required external IR LED. The proximity function offers a wide range of performance, with four programmable LED drive currents and a pulse repetition range of 1 to 32 pulses. The proximity detection circuitry compensates for ambient light, allowing it to operate in environments ranging from bright sunlight to dark rooms. This wide dynamic range also allows operation in short distance detection applications behind dark glass, such as cell phones. An internal state machine provides the ability to put the device into a low power mode for very low average power consumption.

The TSL2672 family of devices provides proximity detection when coupled with an external IR LED. The devices incorporate a constant-current LED sink driver to pulse the external IR LED and achieve very low average power consumption using the low power wait state with programmable wait time between proximity measurements. In addition, the devices are register-set and pin-compatible with the TSL2671 series and include a number of new and improved features, such as improved signal-to-noise and measurement accuracy. A proximity offset register allows compensation for optical system crosstalk between the IR LED and the sensor. To prevent false measurements, a proximity saturation bit indicates that the internal analog circuitry saturated. Interrupts have been enhanced with the addition of a sleep-after-interrupt feature that also allows for single-cycle operation.

ams TCS3448 Spectral Color Sensor
|
The TCS3448 is a 14-channel highly versatile, multi-purpose spectral light sensor. It is optimized to sense spectral components of ambient light in the visible range. Such spectral information is used for camera enhancement (CCT, AWB, exposure time).<br><br>
The spectral response is defined by individual channels covering approximately 380 nm to 1000 nm with 11 channels centered in the visible spectrum (VIS), plus one near-infrared (NIR) and a clear channel. Applications can be assisted to allow classification of ambient light and an integrated flicker detection channel that can automatically flag ambient light flicker at 50/60 Hz as well as buffer data for externally calculating other flicker frequencies.<br><br>
TCS3448 integrates high-precision optical interference filters directly deposited on photodiodes which are embedded in CMOS silicon. A built-in aperture controls the light entering the sensor array to increase accuracy. A programmable digital GPIO and LED driver enable light source and trigger/sync control. Device control and spectral data access is implemented through a serial I²C 1.2 V/1.8 V interface. The device is available in an ultra-low profile package with dimensions of 3.1 mm x 2 mm x 1 mm.
