ams TCS3410 Color and Flicker Detection Sensor
|
The TCS3410 features ambient light sensing, as well as flicker detection. The device comes in a low-profile and small footprint, L2.0mm x W1.0mm x H0.5mm optical QFN package. The Ambient Light Sensing function provides three concurrent ambient light and flicker sensing channels, which can be arbitrarily connected to the photodiodes via a programmable multiplexer. TCS3410 incorporates a set of RGB photodiodes and a Clear photodiode. The RGB and Clear photodiode area is covered with a UV/IR blocking filter. This architecture accurately measures ambient light and enables the calculation of irradiance of different light sources. Calculation results help to improve display appearance and picture taking. The device also integrates direct detection of ambient light flicker. Flicker detection is executed in parallel with ambient light sensing and has independent gain configuration. The flicker detection engine will sample and buffer data for calculating flicker frequencies externally on a host CPU.

ams TCS3707 Color and Proximity Sensor
|
The TCS3707 is a very-high sensitivity light-to-digital converter that features ambient light and color (RGB) sensing, proximity and flicker detection. The Ambient light and color sensing function provide five rrent ambient light sensing channels: Red, Green, Blue, Clear, and Wideband. The RGB and Clear channels have a UV/IR blocking filter. This architecture accurately measures ambient light and enables the calculation of illuminance, chromaticity, and color temperature to manage display appearance. The proximity function synchronizes IR emission and detection to sense nearby objects. The IR driver needs to be connected to an external LED or VCSEL emitter. The architecture of the engine features self-maximizing dynamic range, ambient light subtraction, advanced optical crosstalk noise cancellation, data output and interrupt-driven 1.8V I²C communications interface. Sensitivity, power consumption, and noise can be optimized with adjustable IR LED timing and power. The device integrates direct detection of 50Hz or 60Hz ambient light flicker. Flicker detection is executed in parallel with ambient light and color sensing and has independent gain configuration. The flicker detection engine can also buffer data for calculating other flicker frequencies externally.

The TMF8701 is a true direct time-of-flight (ToF) sensor system in a single modular package which offers highly accurate depth accuracy detection through a sub-nanosecond light pulse and an antialiasing “stop-watch” method to measure round-trip time of pulse. It provides single zone detection of an object irrespective of the color, reflectivity and texture of the object.<br/><br/>The single module with VCSEL emitter offers high dynamic range and operates in either a proximity mode (0 – 10 cm) or a ranging mode (10 – 60 cm) for detection sensing. The device utilizes highly sensitive SPAD detection with fast compact time-to digital converters to make high accurate distance measurement within ±5% and is capable of operation in dark environments.<br/><br/> A built-in histogram is featured to detect cover glass and objects behind glass to select object with highest SNR while compensating for dirt and smudges on cover glass to produce artifact free measurement of multiple objects. The histogram enables greater distance between cover glass, delivers dynamic cover glass calibration and crosstalk compensation. Class 1 eye safety is also featured through the narrow sub-nanosecond (<500 ps) fast pulse 940 nm VCSEL driver. Background light noise is minimized through on-chip superior sunlight rejection filter. Data output is through a 1.8V I²C fast-mode communications interface and an integrated micro controller is featured with all algorithms included on-chip with no need for external optics. <br> <br/><br/><a href="https://ams-osram.com/news/press-releases/ams-tmf8701-true-direct-time-of-flight-tof-sensor-wins-best-of-sensors-innovation-and-the-company-scores-best-engineering-team-at-sensors-expo-2019" target="">The TMF8701 wins the Innovative Product of the Year Award at Sensors Expo 2019</a>
